Storm Damage & Insurance Claims
Hail or wind damage to your Albuquerque roof? Free inspection, full documentation for your insurance adjuster, and we meet them on the roof.
Free Storm Inspection
After a hail or wind event, we walk the roof and document any damage at no charge — even if you ultimately decide not to file a claim.
Full Documentation
Dated photos, measurements, and damage notes you can attach to your insurance claim — the same documentation your adjuster will look for.
We Meet Your Adjuster
When you schedule your adjuster's inspection, we're on the roof with them — pointing out documented damage and answering scope questions.
The Storm Claim Process
- 1Free roof inspection
Call us after a storm. We walk the roof, look for hail bruising, wind-lifted shingles, damaged flashing, and other storm impact, and give you a written assessment with photos.
- 2You decide whether to file
We give you a free repair estimate so you can compare it against your deductible. You decide — no pressure to file. Some homeowners choose to pay out of pocket for small damage; others file and pursue replacement.
- 3You file the claim with your insurance
You contact your insurance carrier (or your agent) and open the claim. New Mexico law requires that you, the policyholder, file the claim — we cannot do this for you. We provide all the documentation you'll need to support it.
- 4Adjuster meets us on the roof
Your insurance assigns an adjuster who comes out to inspect. We meet them on-site, walk the roof together, and make sure documented damage is captured in the adjuster's scope of work.
- 5We execute the approved work
Your insurance issues a check or scope. We bill within that scope. If we discover additional damage during tear-off (often decking deterioration hidden under old shingles), we document it and provide a supplemental estimate so you can file a supplemental claim.
What We Do — and What We Don't
We're a licensed roofing contractor, not a public adjuster. Knowing exactly where we help — and where the line is — protects you from contractors who overpromise.
✓ What we do
- • Free on-site storm inspection
- • Dated photo and measurement documentation
- • Itemized repair/replacement estimates
- • Meet your adjuster on the roof
- • Execute work within insurance-approved scope
- • Document and file supplemental estimates with you when scope grows during work
✗ What we don't do
- • File your insurance claim for you (NM law requires the policyholder to file)
- • Negotiate claim coverage or scope with your insurance carrier on your behalf (that requires a licensed public adjuster)
- • Guarantee a specific claim outcome or approval
- • Waive, rebate, or absorb your insurance deductible (illegal in NM)
- • Promise to "get you a new roof for free"
Insurance Claim FAQs
Do you file the insurance claim for me?+
No — by New Mexico law, only the policyholder (you) or a licensed public adjuster can file and negotiate an insurance claim. We're a licensed roofing contractor, not a public adjuster. What we do is make the claim process easier: we inspect the roof for free, document any storm damage with photos and measurements you can attach to your claim, meet your insurance adjuster on the roof, and then execute the work your insurance approves.
How soon after a storm should I have my roof inspected?+
As soon as it's safe. Most insurance policies have a window — often one year from the date of loss — to file storm-damage claims. The fresher the damage, the easier it is for an adjuster to attribute it to a specific storm event. During monsoon hail season (July–September), call as soon as you see dings on gutters, A/C condenser fins, or paint, downed branches, or shingle granules in your driveway.
What does the free storm inspection include?+
We walk the roof and document anything that looks like hail or wind impact — bruised or cracked shingles, lifted tabs, damaged ridge caps, dented vent boots and flashing, granule loss in valleys, and damage to skylights, satellite mounts, and rooftop equipment. We provide you with dated photos and measurements. You decide whether to file a claim — there's no pressure either way.
Will you meet my insurance adjuster at the roof?+
Yes. When you schedule your adjuster's inspection, we'll meet them on-site, walk the roof together, and point out the documented damage. Having a contractor present during the adjuster visit often results in a more complete scope of work — items missed at first inspection can be flagged on the spot.
What if my adjuster approves less scope than what's actually damaged?+
This happens. If we find additional damage during tear-off (e.g., decking deterioration hidden under shingles, or items the adjuster didn't include), we document it with photos and provide you with a supplemental estimate. You then file a supplemental claim with your insurance — they review and decide. We don't negotiate the coverage; we provide the documentation you and your carrier need.
What if my deductible is high — is filing still worth it?+
It depends on your specific deductible vs. the damage estimate. We can give you a free repair-cost estimate before you file, so you can compare it to your deductible and make an informed decision. For hail or wind damage that exceeds your deductible by a meaningful amount, filing is usually worthwhile. Some policies have separate higher "wind/hail" deductibles — check your declarations page.
Do you guarantee my insurance claim will be approved?+
No. Coverage decisions are made entirely by your insurance carrier based on your policy, the documented damage, and their underwriting. We can document the damage thoroughly and meet your adjuster, but we have no control over the outcome — and any contractor who promises a specific claim result should be treated with skepticism.
Important: scope of services
Lobo Construction & Electric LLC is a licensed roofing contractor in New Mexico. We are not a licensed public adjuster and do not represent policyholders in negotiating, adjusting, or settling insurance claims. Under New Mexico law, only the policyholder (or a licensed public adjuster acting on the policyholder's behalf) may file and negotiate an insurance claim with the carrier.
Inspections, photo documentation, repair estimates, and meeting your adjuster on-site are advisory and supportive services. Coverage decisions, scope determinations, and claim payments are made solely by your insurance carrier based on your policy and their underwriting — Lobo does not guarantee any particular claim outcome.
Lobo does not waive, rebate, or absorb any portion of a homeowner's insurance deductible. Doing so is prohibited under New Mexico law and many insurance policies. The deductible amount stated in your policy is your responsibility.
