Albuquerque's Only Solar + Roofing Specialist — Under One Roof
Solar and Roofing — One Crew, One Company, One Insurance
Most contractors do one or the other: a solar installer who can't re-roof, or a roofer who won't touch your panels. Lobo Construction & Electric does both — in-house, under one license and one insurance policy. Want a brand-new solar system? Need your panels detached and reset so we can replace the roof underneath? A full roof replacement? All of it at once? One crew handles the whole thing, start to finish.

Solar Detach & Reset Re-Roofing — FAQs
Do you install brand-new solar systems, or only detach and reset existing panels?
Both. As Lobo Construction & Electric, our licensed electricians design and install brand-new grid-tied solar systems, while our roofing crew handles detach & reset and full re-roofs. You can start fresh with a new solar system, keep your existing panels through a re-roof, replace just the roof, or bundle a new roof and new solar into one coordinated project — all with one company, one crew, and one insurance policy.
How do you replace shingles on a roof with solar panels?
Our crew disconnects each panel from its racking, labels and safely stores the panels on the ground, then performs the full tear-off, deck repair if needed, and new shingle (or tile, metal, TPO, silicone) install. Once the new roof is on, we remount the panels using the original racking when intact — or compatible new flashings if needed — and reconnect the system to your inverter. It's one continuous project rather than two disconnected jobs.
Do I need to hire my original solar company to remove the panels?
No. Most solar installers don't offer roof replacement, which is exactly why homeowners get stuck waiting between two contractors. We carry the licenses and insurance to disconnect, store, and reinstall residential solar arrays as part of the roofing project — eliminating the runaround.
How long does solar removal and reinstall take?
A typical residential job is 3–5 working days: 1 day to disconnect and remove panels, 1–2 days for the roof replacement, and 1 day to reinstall and reconnect. Weather, panel count, and any decking surprises can extend this — we give you a firm timeline at the estimate.
Will removing my panels void my manufacturer warranty?
Done correctly, no. The risk to your panel and inverter warranty is improper handling — drops, mismatched torque on remounting, or wiring errors. We document every step and use the original racking when intact (or compatible new flashings) so the panel manufacturer warranty stays valid. Your new roof warranty also stays intact because we install the mounts, not a separate solar contractor punching new holes.
How much does solar removal and reinstall cost in Albuquerque?
Pricing varies by panel count, roof size, decking condition, and your choice of roofing material (shingle, tile, TPO, metal, or silicone). Solar removal + reinstall typically costs less than hiring two separate companies because we eliminate scheduling gaps and shared overhead. Can you work with Tesla, Enphase, SunPower, or other panel brands?
Yes. Our crew has handled SunPower, Tesla, Enphase microinverter systems, REC, LG, Panasonic, and string-inverter setups from SolarEdge and similar. If you have an unusual system or aren't sure of the manufacturer, send us a photo of the panel back-label and inverter and we'll confirm at the free estimate.
